Nursery Update!

Monday, May 26th, 2008
The nursery is ready!!!  Until I go crazy and start another craft project =)  Maybe curtains…   Anyway, here are new pictures of the nursery!  I finally got to make the bed!  I got blue sheets and red sheets.  Eric picked the blue to start.  =)  AND, I have baskets on the bookshelf!  Thanks to Bobby =)  Two are holding clothes and one is for diaper stuff.  I love organizing!!!  I washed all the baby’s clothes, and sorted them by size.  Now I just need plastic tubs to hold the larger sizes until she starts growing out of stuff =)  The baby quilt is all done and ready to be used in my rocking chair!  I think the room is starting to look colorful =)

Eric and I love this chair!

*** Edit!  I went to Target and bought my tubs… which means that I then needed a bed skirt to hide my tubs =)  So I made one!  Here it is =)   Image

Baby Shower

Sunday, May 25th, 2008
Tina and Ann hosted a baby shower for us on Memorial Day weekend!  We had SO much fun!  When we first got there, the first thing we saw were all these adorable onesies strung up around the room!  Tina had gotten a lot of our friends to design clothes for the baby!  There were some hilarious things there, including a “Future Slytherin” sleeper, and a “Future Hufflepuff” sleeper =)   Tina made those.  Johnny made one with a Descent card on it.  He even gave the baby stats!  And Gavin and Eddie gave us Dnd onesies and pants, which we love!  And to complete the tributes to our game playing, Jack drew an OOTS style shirt for us!  We also got a sun hat with Baby Bair spelled in Scrabble tiles.  Ann and Abbey gave us some shirts with pretty graphics on them. My favorite of Ann’s was the Babar design.  Abbey’s said, “Dreams Do Come True”. =)  I think that’s my new theme =)  There were so many wonderful designs!  Thank you everyone who participated, I can’t wait to get to dress her in them!  Tina had us try to guess who designed which shirt.  There were a few obvious one, like Andrea’s cow design, Jack’s brilliant OOTS drawing of us, Marilyn’s pig and Austin’s prime numbers, but we had some trouble with the other ones.  It was fun to guess though!

We played several fun games!  Eric’s favorite was the clothespin game.  When Ann playtested this game, it took just a few minutes per person.  They didn’t count on the fact that we are a competitive bunch of people!  The guys especially spent SEVERAL minutes just analyzing the best way to get as many clothespins in one hand as possible.  Eric tried to clip them to his fingers, to leave more space for more.  Turned out that’s painful and really hard to do one-handed, so not the best strategy.  The high score was 18 clothespins, for the guys at least, and at least four different people managed that.  For the girls, Ann got 13 I believe.  We spent a long time on this one, but it was a lot of fun!  We also played a scattergories type game, and one where you look at baby stuff under a blanket and try to memorize it.  We played hot potato with a “dirty” diaper.  We ended up having the most fun playing with the bag that our car seat came in.  Eight people fit inside the bag.  And then, they HOPPED!!!  I have a video, it’s hilarious.

Tina and Ann must have spent all of Friday cooking for the party.  We had a delicious brunch, with meatballs, the cheesy green appetizers Ann makes, little quiche, fruit, and waffles!  Later in the afternoon we had Tina’s yummy pasta salad, lemon cake, and cheesecake!  Mmmmmm….
We were given so many amazing presents!  So many useful things!!!  Tina and Johnny got us our convertible car seat.  Juan and Veronica gave us big boxes of diapers!!!  Those will definitely be used!  We got wonderful books from Jack and Patricia.  I’ve started reading them already =)  She really knows the best children’s books!  Marilyn and Andrew got us this adorable constellation night light turtle… yeah, you might need to see that to understand it =)  It’s really cute, trust me.  We also got lots of baby clothes, but in all different sizes so we will be able to use them all!   Karen and Phil gave us this very cute nursing shawl.  Joyce gave us some baby Einstein blocks and a HUGE box of baby wipes =)  Bobby got us a medical kit, a bath kit, and a bunch of my wicker baskets!  I am so excited to have those baskets because it means I can start organizing all the baby’s stuff onto her bookshelf!   Yay!!!  Expect another website update as soon as I get that done!  =)

I’m 34 weeks now, you can really see my baby bump here!

After the party officially ended, we hung out at Ann and John’s for the rest of the day playing with Aidan, throwing around balls of wrapping paper and pelting Eric and Bobby with soft splash balls (which is a lot of fun), playing board games and talking.

Mother’s Day Date

Sunday, May 25th, 2008
For Mother’s Day, Eric took me on a date!  We went to the movies and then got curry!  I’m trying to teach the baby to like spicy foods while I have a captive audience =)   We also wandered around the bookstore, so it was a perfect day.  Here are some pictures.  They’re from 32 weeks or so!
