Just two more months to go!! I am so excited! Everything seems to be going very well.
So much has changed in the last month! She is getting SO much more active! I just love it =) When she first started moving I thought of it as dancing… well, now she’s dancing more like her Daddy. I think she’s definitely doing the worm in there =) It’s so much fun! Eric lay with his head on my stomach one night =) The baby kicked him in the head! Repeatedly =) It was so wonderful! He was explaining to her that the theory of relativity really does exist even if her mama didn’t believe in it. =)
I am finally getting to enjoy my maternity clothes =) I can still wear some of my normal clothes, but the maternity ones are so comfortable. I may never give these pants up =) Here are some pictures so you can see what I look like! I am finally showing =) Yay!

May 9th, About 32 Weeks!!
Actually wearing maternity clothes in this one =) Yay!
For a few weeks this month I totally became nocturnal. I would be so energetic and alert at midnight I’d end up staying awake till four AM! Even if I didn’t get a nap the day before. I had a blast chatting with Patricia late into the night. I read a lot too. It was fun going to sleep after Eric. He’s cute when he sleeps. One night I got out of bed to go chat for a while, and when I got back he was taking up the whole bed. I picked up his legs and swung them back to his side. He never woke up =)
We’ve started taking childbirth classes! I love the classes, and the teacher is extremely helpful. I told my doctor who I had and he said Indira was on the graveyard shift with him a lot. Which is nice to know. We got to watch a video on induction, and one on coaching. The coaching one was interesting, it showed all different positions for you to use during labor… The one question I had that I didn’t ask was… do people really take those big inflatable balls with them to the hospital? We have one at home, and I tried out some of the positions they showed. Yes, they were very comfortable, but I think I’d feel a little strange carrying that around =) Maybe we’ll just use that at home =)
The most exciting part of the evening was definitely when she had us practice our breathing techniques. No one warned me that the husbands were going to simulate contractions!!! In this class, she had them squeeze our shoulders until it hurt enough that we could practice breathing through pain. Eric enjoyed this WAY too much. She actually said, “the harder you squeeze, the better prepared your wife will be.†I think he tried to dislocate my shoulder! His hands were actually shaking he squeezed so hard =) It actually was good practice, it was harder to breathe when he was squeezing as hard as he could. It was also very hard not to giggle a little at the whole thing. The second time we did that I actually told him that maybe I would consider an epidural =) I think I’d still rather avoid it but I’m keeping an open mind. The other thing Eric learned from the class was that the most important thing for a coach to do is to stay informed and ask lots of questions. He took that to mean he gets to ask ME all the questions he wants! I told him if he asked me questions just to pester me while I was in labor, I’d poke him. Although Gavin’s suggestion that I pick up the closest piece of medical equipment and whack him sounds good too =) The teacher also encouraged us to make friends with everyone else in our class. It really was a lot of fun to get to meet a lot of other people with due dates similar to ours. And to compare tummy sizes =) Everyone looks so different! The best part of the class was that it gave us so much to talk about! After we went home Eric and I talked for hours about different things we hadn’t thought too much about before. We have two more weeks of class, and I’m looking forward to it!
At my last doctor’s visit (which lasted all of five minutes since everything is good) he asked me if I was walking. Since the childbirth instructor also mentioned regular walking as a way of preparing for the marathon of labor, I decided I probably should be doing more than just walking to the grocery store and grocery shopping twice a week. That was one of the things Eric realized at our class… that being in shape really helps for labor. So he’s helping me by swimming with me (or sitting by the pool while I swim.) And I’ve started trying to walk every day. My feet are probably the most out of shape part of me! I haven’t worn any shoes but clogs for months… and so now I have blisters =) And thank goodness for my ipod, I don’t know how people exercised without one. I would be completely bored. The weather is absolutely gorgeous now, and the flowers are blooming like crazy, so I have lots to look at on my walks around the neighborhood.
I’m still changing our name list. I’ve cut a few out, and lately I’ve been looking for names with V in them, or names with special meanings. I added Zoe to the list, because it means lively, and the baby is certainly lively! I also added Evelyn, because I really love names with V in them. I’d probably call her Evie. The only reason that wasn’t on the list was because I thought Eric didn’t like it, but he does! Now I’m looking for names from literature =)
Well, that’s about all the baby news I can think of for now. Just two more months to go!!!!
Eric and I have really enjoyed our new chair. One day we sat in it together and read Raggedy Ann stories to the baby. Eric hasn’t read most of the baby’s books yet, so we have fun in store. It was so cozy =)
