Halloween

I made Serenity a Halloween costume for her first Halloween!  She was a flower fairy =)  I know that no one is surprised I chose that =)  I had leftover fancy fabric from my bridesmaids dresses, and I bought some iridescent fabric for the wings.  It was fun to make, and I love how it turned out!  Eric wants her to wear it as an everyday dress =)  She likes it cause she can grab the petals and stick them in her mouth =)  I also got this cute flower clip that goes in her hair.  Even though she doesn’t have too much hair it still stays in!  I made her a wand also with ribbons on it.  She’s fascinated by the ribbons =) Last night we went to Ann and John’s to Trick or Treat.  Joyce came by with treats, and Serenity went to two houses!!!

While I was working on the costume, Veronica made a costume for Aidan!  She made him a strawberry costume =)  The boys watched the babies for us.  So everyone helped!!!

Serenity is a Giggling 3 and a Half Months!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008
Another exciting two weeks!!!  She giggles now!  You have to work for it, but it’s just the cutest noise!  I discovered this by kissing her on the neck with a funny noise.  She started giggling, which only encouraged me!  Apparently she’s a little ticklish on her neck.  She may have gotten that from me, as when I was little Dad just had to point at my neck to tickle me there.   =)
We bought her a pumpkin!  We thought the pumpkin patch would be lost on her, but I couldn’t resist getting her this little pumpkin from one of our walks to the grocery store.  She likes it!  It’s the perfect size for her to hold herself!

Dad came for a visit during his Fall Break!  We were all very excited to see him =)  He shooed me out the door as often as he could so he could babysit Serenity.  And she was very good for Grandpa!  He gave her lots of baths, she may have had more during his five day visit than the rest of her life… although that’s probably an exaggeration.  A little one =)  We may add it to her bedtime routine though, it did help get her sleepy!

Dad was so impressed with how well she was standing he bought her a jumperoo for her to work her legs out.  She loves it!  She especially loves to play with the little frog, and the caterpillar face.  Once we got batteries for the piano, she loved that too.  She will stay in it for a long time, up to thirty minutes!  She likes it best when the music is playing, although she mostly hits the button for the William Tell Overture on her own, I push all the other keys when I help her =)

Lydia came for a visit!  I was so excited to get to introduce her to Serenity.  Ann was trying to get a group picture together, and she said, “I was offered the baby” and she wasn’t interested in doing anything else till she got her turn!  She got her a cute dress with poodles on it, and Mati and Lisa got her an adorable pant outfit that will fit her around 9 months.  So it’ll be a little while before she wears it, which is perfect as we don’t have that many clothes for that size!

She is ALMOST sitting!  She wobbles of course, and eventually bends over at the waist,  but look how high she can hold herself!  She loves to sit, and stand, and wiggles a lot when she’s awake.  She’s a very active baby =)  And still talkative.  She’s learned a funny shriek that she can’t decide if it’s a good noise or a bad one. She’ll be happily screaming, and then she’ll use the same scream for an unhappy noise. It’s like she found a new volume and loves to try it out!  I keep telling myself, stop positively reinforcing the scream, it’s not cute, really, it’s not… =)

She’s just getting over her first cold!  Just a little sniffly, but it’s made it hard for her to sleep and eat which is no fun.  Poor baby.
We’re completely in her three month clothes now.  Here’s a picture of her in her “Future Slytherin” sleeper, another of the great outfits made for her at the shower Tina and Ann hosted! Image

Serenity is three months old! Here is the latest news about her I took pictures in a pretty dress Ann bought her.  I tried to pick the best one to be her Month Three picture, but I couldn’t decide which one =)  So here are the six cutest =)  You can help me out and vote for your favorite in the poll at the right

Serenity loves dresses!  And so does her Daddy!  Serenity likes the dresses cause she can lift up the hem and chew on it =)  Daddy likes it for the same reason =)  He said he’d even like to put a son in dresses.  It’s also easier to change diapers since we almost never bother with the matching panties.  I told him we’d better just have girls.  =)   She also holds and chews on her burp cloths

I love when she first wakes up from a nap.  She’ll squint and look around, and then sometimes she’ll look at me and start a serious conversation full of coos and giggles, like she’s telling me all about her dreams and her day.  I love it!  She’s started holding my thumb when she’s falling asleep.  It’s so sweet!

We discovered she enjoys the front carrier!  Now that she’s big enough to face the front at least.  Eric carried her in it on a trip to the park, and she was contented the whole time!  And I took her to the grocery store in it!  And she lasted for a long time!  Normally in the stroller she tires quickly of the grocery store cause it’s so noisy, but she liked it in the carrier =)

I love reading with Serenity =)  She’s started to enjoy sitting up in my lap and looking at the book.  Her favorite is definitely Ten in the Bed.  We read that one sitting in the rocking chair.  I sing half of it =)  It’s the one that goes “ten in the bed and the little one said roll over, roll over.”  It’s a board book and she listens to it repeatedly!  We’re also reading “I Love You Through and Through.”
