Serenity Visited the Midwest!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
Serenity and I spent a long weekend in Oklahoma!  I was very nervous about flying with Serenity, but it turned out just fine.  I managed to nurse her on the airplane thanks to my lovely nursing shawl that Karen gave me, which was important since Serenity refuses the bottle about half the time.  She mostly slept, only crying and wiggling just a little bit when I think her ears bothered her.  Even though she was so good, I still wished I could have a margarita when it was all over!

Originally we had planned to just go to Tulsa for a visit, but my grandma Mimi died, so we drove to Amarillo for her funeral.  I’m really glad we were able to go and celebrate her life.  She was just the perfect grandma, and everyone loved her so much.  Serenity got to meet almost all of her family in one crazy weekend.   They all loved her of course =)
We spent the first night at Mike and Kelly’s house.  She was all smiles when we got out of the car =)  When the kids woke up in the morning, Raegan immediately put on her pearl neckace with her nightgown.  She is in the cutest pink princess stage =)  Carson was already running around playing.  I dressed Serenity in the pretty outfit Raegan helped Kelly pick for her.  She definitely approved of the fancy pink ruffles.  Raegan was excited to hold her, and both kids tried to share toys with her!  So sweet

Staying with Serenity at the hotel was great fun.  We all congregated in Don’s room to hang out, and she surprised me by napping with all the commotion going on.  Then she had fun lying on Jen’s legs looking around at all the craziness.  She had really big smiles!  Here she is with J, my niece KaLynn, my brother Dave, and with Jen.

Serenity also got to meet her Mexican Grandma, Rosario!  It was her first real Spanish lesson.  Rosario was SO excited to get to meet her at last.  She’s already offered to babysit.

We spent some time over at Jen’s house when we got back to Tulsa, and I got to introduce Serenity to Casey and Barrett!  Barrett asked if he could scratch her back.  He was very gentle with her, it was so cute.  He pulled out lots of baby toys for her to chew on, her favorite being the blue crayon.  Then he chewed on them too to keep her company =)  Casey held her too, and played in the floor with her.  He thought it was hilarious when she kicked him and grabbed his ears.

Mom got her her first baby doll!  It’s soft and very pink.  She’s having fun with it already!

Love Thursday: Rainbow Season

Love Thursday: Rainbow Season
It’s Rainbow Season again!!!  In my apartment at least =)  I made these suncatchers out of lots of prisms that I bought in my one and only venture into Ebay (the number of prisms I bought prove that I’m not to be trusted with Ebay)  Starting around this time of year the light is perfect in the morning to throw thousands of rainbows into my living room!!  It’s so happy and cheerful it always makes me smile.  And I can just tap the prisms to make them dance!  This year it’s especially fun because Serenity notices the rainbows!  And she likes to look at the sparkly prisms.

I was inspired to make these “rainbow makers” by one of my all-time favorite movies, Pollyanna.  She’s always finding things to be glad about, and I always thought that was such a happy way to be.  She strung prisms like these in the windows of this old guys house.  He was such a grouch before he met Pollyanna!  The photos don’t do it justice, but I wanted to share my fun!
