Serenity’s Second Birthday Party!

We had an absolute blast!!! The kids had so much fun with all the Princess Presto stuff!

Serenity loves her Princess Presto crown!

They all LOVED finding Super Letters! Serenity found the first all by herself in the pond in the backyard, and she ran inside with it and I showed her where they went on the birthday sign (Super Duper Computer) The rest of the kids then realized the game was on and ran all over the house and yard looking for the Super Letters! I thought this would be fun, but I didn’t realize it would be fun for them to take them down and hide them over and over! They did it for nearly the whole party =) And at one point Casey proved the villain that stole the Super Letters was Airduct! (He used awesome reasoning by the way, questioning everyone about their whereabouts until he narrowed it down to Eric) Serenity read the word Happy off her sign =)

Making capes was a lot of fun! At first all the kids just ran around in the capes, most waving the glittery wands as well. Barrett went all out and wore one of the work hats for the whole party, he ran to me and told me he was Alpha Pig. Later, they realized that they could use stickers to decorate their capes! Casey wrote Super C on his, and then Barrett asked Jen to decorate his for him. =) Raegan spent the most time on her cape, it was covered in bling! She was happy to model it =) Later Casey decorated the reverse side of his cape as “Dark N,” his evil twin.

I got some really fun pictures of the super heroes posing with the super hero backdrops, and they had fun with the Super Why board as well! Just the older kids understood the concept of posing with it though, the little ones loved playing with the windows and looking at the painted side. So next time I’ll put something on the back to lure the kids back there =) Or put a mirror so they can see themselves as they pose! Raegan wanted to have her picture taken as each super hero! The kids enjoyed the playground in Mom’s yard too. Serenity rode the tire swing with Barrett! Papa thought she would have stayed there all day if Barrett hadn’t gotten tired.

Serenity enjoyed the tea party too! She ate an entire peanut butter and jelly tea sandwich. It was shaped like a heart =) All the kids liked the fancy teacups that Serenity and I decorated, and the table turned out cute! I especially love the throne Dad built for Serenity =) Every time Serenity walked away from it Casey or another of the kids would claim a turn in the throne!

For birthday cake we had Strawberry Shortcake with Strawberry Whipped Cream. Strawberries and cream is a treat we discovered at Papa’s house and Serenity loves it even more than cake! Mom told me at the party that Mimi always made her shortcake with strawberry whipped cream like that! I also filled some strawberries with the strawberry cream, that was my favorite treat =) I made two batches of Sand Tarts, because the pink icing was perfect for this party, and Serenity loves them too. I also attempted Purple Velvet cake balls. I think it takes some more practice to make them pretty, but people said they were tasty, so that’s ok.

Blowing out the candles! Well, the fan helped but she did blow =)

Serenity enjoyed her Book Club Tent! I think her favorite part was climbing in the window so far. She did change the clothes on the doll a few times, and she loved finding the new Super Why books in the pockets! Later I’ll show her all the letters she can write words with on the book. She loved taking the pencils off too!

We did fishing again! Barrett and Casey started asking the minute they saw the big blue pond when it was time to fish. They remembered from last year =) Serenity chose the number foam puzzle and really tried to fish for it this year. The best part was when Grandma asked if she could have a turn fishing. Eric told her to go line up with the kids. He had been choosing the next fisherman by eeny-meeny-miney mo, and Casey had been waiting patiently as all the other kids were picked, but when Grandma got picked before him he said “OH MAN!” Grandma wanted the little package of balls to play with her puppies =)

When we got home Serenity was worn out! She fell asleep on the couch, only the second time I’ve ever seen her fall asleep not in a bed or with me! Actually I fell asleep too. Then, when it was time for her actual bedtime, of course our bedtime stories were her two new Super Why books!

The Book Club:I made a card table tent as a birthday present for Serenity. The kids loved it! And Grandma asked if I’d make one to keep at her house =)

Just like the Book Club on Super Why except Princess Presto colored =) The pencils come off! Serenity loved playing with them =)

We also had curry chicken salad, mango and raspberry salsas, veggie tray, cheese and meat tray, homemade oatmeal rolls, Pink Lemonade and Pink Tea.

I also made photo backdrops like the Super Readers have on Super Why,and a photoboard that the kids could use to take pictures as the Super Readers! Dad put the Super Readers faces on windows so that if we had fewer than four kids in a picture there wouldn’t be empty holes. Serenity loved opening and shutting the windows most of all!

Serenity’s Cutest Moments =)

Sunday, July 11th, 2010
Hee hee =)

Hee hee =)

Serenity’s Cutest Moments Year Two =)
Ok, this is not nearly all of them, but this is a copy of all the ones I thought funny enough to post on Facebook, plus a few extras =) They are very randomly organized but I’m about journaled out so they’re staying that way.

I love the way Serenity thanks people when she’s very excited. She first said this to Far Far when he gave her a pile of colorful playing cards. “thank you Far Far that’s so SWEET!” The “sweet” is in the sweetest little squeal.

Dancing with Belle. Serenity has always loved dancing, whether it was marching with Pookie or just doing her own cute little kick of the leg dance. But when she fell in love with Beauty Beast she started doing their lovely spinning dance with all her stuffed animals, and even occasionally with Mama and Daddy. She even sings the song, “Tale da da daTime, Song to Make it Rhyme, Beauty and the Beast.” Here’s a conversation she had with her Daddy one day: Eric: “Serenity, are you ready for pacifiers?”(nap) Serenity: “No, I gotta dance!!!!

Serenity has been singing SuperCaliFragilisticExpialidocious this morning… I can tell because she says um diddleiddleidle um diddle I… but then she sings… Super California =)

(At this moment, she is climbing onto a chair in the office, saying “You can DO it Serenity, you can do it! You did it!! Clap clap clap” All aloud =) She learned cheering on Super Why =)

One morning she told me very seriously “I live in a house, Mama lives in an IGLOO.” I made her repeat the word igloo three times before I was sure what she was saying, it was so out of the blue! It’s hilarious, creative and imaginative, and I look forward to seeing this new trait more and more! Later that same day she said “I live in a sand castle and Mama lives in a sand castle. Together!”

One day we took Serenity to the park and she said “Slides make me happy. I like happy” =) (of course it sounds like “I yike happy!”
January
When we went to the Vasona Park and walked out to the lake, Serenity was so excited to get to throw rocks in the pond! She got into a good rhythm with Farfar, he’d hand her one rock and she’d toss it in one after the other. Then he tried to trick her by handing her a paci instead of a rock, but she wasn’t fooled! It went pop right into her mouth and she held out her hand for the next rock, not breaking the rhythm. =)

Serenity requested pretzels with her eggs one morning… when I put them on her plate she said “That’s a good Mama” in the exact same tone that I use when I say, “what a good girl you are!”
The day after shoe shopping: Serenity’s first words upon waking up this morning: “My Shoes!!!” Then she rolled out of bed and said “I go get them” Pink shoes are a powerful thing =)
5/9
So for the last few weeks, Serenity kept wandering around waving her arms and saying “Womba Womba to the Ground!!!” I could not understand what she was saying, but it was so cute and exuberant I really wanted to know. Well finally I figured it out! I noticed her fingers were in the raindrop position from music class! She was singing Little Raindrops falling down, one by one (womba womba) onto the ground! It’s too cute!!!

April: Serenity has started asking for kisses when she gets hurt. She’ll run to me and whimper, “hurt your toe!” and say “kiss your toe!” She loves to get kisses so much =) Sometimes she’ll just ask for kisses all over. “Kiss your head!” “Kiss your knee!” “Kiss your cheek!” “Kiss your neck!” One day she even asked “Kiss your tongue!”

Serenity at the feed store talking to the ducks: “Quack. Quack!! Quack quack quack. Guess what? Quack!!!!”
I asked Serenity if she wanted to go outside and water the plants with me this morning. First she said “yea!” which is her usual positive response. Then she said. “I do! I really do!”
Serenity woke up to the epiphany that her sheets are red. I hear through the monitor, “It’s red! It’s red!” =) She was so excited… she’s had these sheets since birth =)
We had a blast at Brandon and Nicole’s wedding… maybe a little too much fun. Serenity spent nearly the whole night on the dance floor, except for the few seconds she spent stealing a glass off the table and enjoying her first taste of champagne. I have no idea how much she drank, but probably not much… right? She was in excellent spirits…
“That’s crazy!”
February 2nd Serenity said “beautiful beautiful mama” today. Of course, to put it in perspective, she also said “beautiful beautiful horse” to her plastic toy pony.
On Monday, Serenity woke up in a very fun mood. She went down to her window, and said, “shopping, shopping, shopping!” I asked her what she wanted to go shopping for, and she said “clothes!” Then I asked her if she wanted new pants, or a new dress, and she said, “new dress!” It was soo cute. Then she started asking for Aunt Jennifer, who she knows instinctively is her best shopping ally. We called her up and went shopping! We got her two dresses, a purple butterfly shirt, a pair of jeans, and a purple batman shirt! And, I got two new pairs of jeans too! It was exciting, and so much fun to enjoy the girlie time together. She always asks to wear dresses when I ask her what she wants to wear, and usually has an opinion on which of her dresses she’d like to wear as well.

December I was totally planning on being lazy this morning, hanging around in my pajamas and baking for Christmas. Serenity had other ideas. She walked over to me and said “Pajamas OFF!” So we went upstairs and she picked out her fluffiest white dress to wear.
October 27th I wish I had a video monitor so I could figure out why Serenity keeps saying ” 1, 2, 3, Wheee!!” in her crib
I love listening to Serenity on the monitor as she’s falling asleep. She often plays quietly for half an hour or more, and she says the funniest things. Sometimes she sings random songs, like her abc’s, sometimes I hear “wee wee wee all the way home.”
September 2nd How can Serenity still be funny when she wakes me up every hour for the last five hours? She thinks she’s a train…
August 3rd When Serenity tries to say “bottom” it sounds like “bummer” =)
July 25th I tried to warn my one year old that if she put rocks in her mouth, we’d have to go inside. Obligingly, she popped two rocks in her mouth and ran inside her playhouse. Outsmarted again by my toddler.
