Maia is 14 months old!!!  Time to update her journal =)

My Maia Sunshine =)

Nursing sessions get progressively less snuggly the older Maia gets. This morning, she had one hand in my cleavage, the other hand in my bra, and also one foot in my bra! I’m still not sure how she managed that.

Maia has reached the climb into the box stage =) She loves climbing into things, toy boxes, plastic tubs, cardboard boxes. It’s adorable! =)

She reaches up to ruffle her hair whenever I get to the part of Pajama Time “some are fuzzy”

I found Jamberry behind the couch today and put it back in the book basket. Maia saw it from across the room and made a beeline for it after her nap. After reading it for about 15 minutes straight I realized there may have been a reason it was behind the couch. =) If she would only let me finish a page before turning it, at some point I think she was trying to make it a flip book. =)

Maia is 14 months old! She is fast! I was reading a book to her in the kids’ bedroom and she suddenly decided to go to the ocean room, and by the time I got up from the bed she had disappeared. Donovan started giggling hysterically when I turned to him and said, “Did you know she was that fast? I didn’t know she could run?!?”

Books are still her absolute favorite thing. Love this! More of our books have fallen apart. I don’t know if she’s just rougher with them or if making it through three children is just too much to ask of a board book.

She has started asking to go outside. Which is challenging because after a few pretty days we got snowed in for two days straight! She will learn early that you can’t depend on weather in Oklahoma. She said “siiiiide” though so I bundled her up and took her outside. She doesn’t say words often, and never when you ask her to say them, but she has said lots of different ones. Her most frequently said words are DZ and Sis =) Oh, and berries and bath =) She loves bathtime! She especially loves sucking on washcloths…

Maia has reached the climb into things phase. She loves being in boxes =) And the Magformers and Lego Duplos are her favorite toys. She has one in her mouth almost all the time =)

DZ got his face painted at his friend Mia's party. He loved it so much! He wants to either have a tiger birthday or he wants to have an Elsa birthday because Mia loves Elsa =)

I asked the kids if they wanted to pray tonight and DZ said he did. I gave him a little example and asked him what he’d like God to help him with, and he said, “I want God to help me reach the cereal.”

Another time DZ said, I’m not sure if I want to go to Heaven. There’s a lot of chocolate down here. Will Jennifer bring chocolate with her to Heaven?

Found my phone for me, called Daddy. “Come in Agent Daddy, this is Agent Donovan.” Hiding behind pillar. SO cute =)

Hanging up Daddy’s shirts, waiting for washer to be done so he can change it over “It’s still five. It’s NEVER going to be four (minutes left)!”

Donovan is becoming a real lego addict! He and Serenity have spent a lot of time this month building lots of things, and he often comes and says he wants to build “with the instructions” meaning he wants to try and follow the instructions that came with his sets. He likes to build with little legos and the duplos both. Today we built a lookout tower, (like in paw patrol). Last week he and his Dad made a crazy castle big enough for Maia to sit in (and demolish). Right now I’m listening to his little voice narrating adventures as he plays in an enormous pile of duplos. It’s adorable!

DZ wants to play baseball for his Spring activity, and since we haven't been able to find a team for his age group, he's going to have a baseball class with Daddy! He chose this bat! =)

Her hair is LONG! One day she leaned back a little and said, "Hey, my hair can touch my butt!" Needs a trim, but she loves it long and she's getting pretty good at brushing it most days.

January is usually a slow month for me, journaling wise. I’m usually recovering from Christmas and December Daily =) Life is pretty calm and slow this month, and I revel in it as much as I love the busy times too =)

Serenity is getting SO grown up. It’s astonishing to me really, even though I am with her every day. I consciously try to find times to be just with her, so this month we had a bookstore date. She’s reading chapter books voraciously, and although usually I get them for her online, going to an actual store and shopping for them together was such a joy! She told me in the car she wanted to find more Never Girls books and Secret Kingdom books, and luckily they had them! We actually bought two copies of one of the Never Girls books so she and I could read them at the same time for a little book club =) Eric ended up reading it too! Love it! I also bought her the Secret Garden! She’s been reading that one for a whole week, which I love so much. I love sharing a book that I love with her, and I love that it’s taking her more than a day since that way I get to read a chapter to her here and there. Her birthday party, which probably will have a Nature Girl theme, may also have elements of Never Girls and Secret Gardens =)

Her Daisy troop has been doing lots of exciting things! We are gearing up for cookie sales, which I’m both excited for and dreading. Selling things is not my best skill, but I recognize it’s a very valuable one. Maybe she and I both will become more comfortable with it. =) She earned a Money Counts badge for learning about money, another petal for Respecting Yourself and Others, and her Amazing Daisy patch for reciting the entire Girl Scout law. She recited it in front of the entire troop! I was so proud of her. And when I first learned she had memorized it I was truly surprised. She did it months ago on her own, just from reading her Daisy Scouting book to herself. I can’t even recite it, it’s really long! She is really good at memorizing things.

Serenity has started taking a Musical Theater class. They got their parts last week, she is Flounder! So exciting! The class is for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade, so there are all different ages with her. The play is the Little Mermaid, so we will be singing Under the Sea until the performance in May. So far, her favorite song is Le Poisson. =) She’s shown me a little of their dances and it’s going to be adorable.
