“Mama! I’m glad to see you!” Maia is a super sweet and snuggly girl in the mornings =) Sometimes she plays quietly in her room when she wakes up, and when I go to check on her I get big grins and hugs =)
Maia is really into accessories right now. Her favorite is her “Necklace” which is actually a pair of sunglasses. Sometimes she says glasses now, but usually necklace first. It’s soo cute! She also chose a bracelet from Kiddlestix with her gift card from papa, and she often seeks out jewelry to wear.
She’s also starting to have fun style choices. As opposed to last month, when she wanted to be mostly naked, now when she gets dressed she wants to wear ALL the things. Yesterday she wore her purple dress and purple diaper cover, and then she added a long sleeved purple dress over that. And then she added her leopard pajama top and pants over that! She is very firm on which of her clothes she wants at any given time, and if you offer her the wrong thing she usually grabs it and tosses it down in a huff of artistic indignation. Don’t offer the girl a green dress when she clearly said “bwue.” =)

“Double Drat” Maia and I are having serious car seat battles. Not every time, but often enough to stress me out, she wrestles like a professional wwf wrestler to avoid being buckled. I worry I’m going to hurt her, but at some point we actually do HAVE to get into the car and go get Serenity and DZ from school. Well, after I won the last wrestling match, once she calmed down, she said clearly, “Double Drat.” Funny enough to make me laugh even through my irritation with the car seat struggle.
The weather has been beautiful and Maia has started spending lots of time in the sandbox. I don’t always follow her out, but I discovered yesterday that she has turned the playhouse into a secondary sandbox. The floor of the playhouse is about four inches deep in sand. That’s some dedication from a two year old!
Maia’s favorite show right now is Super Why. She still just loves letters, and Super Why shows them a lot. I let her try pbskids.org recently, and now she just loves to play the games there! She can’t click, so I have to run the mouse, but she knows the answers to all the letter sounds games from Princess Presto and the find the letter game from Alpha Pig. And she loves the songs too! =) She has been repeating a lot of the super why phrases at the cutest times. She grabbed a play hammer and started banging on walls, saying “A, B, C, D” just like Alpha Pig building his letters.
We’ve started doing more crafts. I bought a copy of the full story of Chicka Chicka ABC to replace the board book she demolished, and I bought letter stickers so she could recreate a scene from the book. She loved that! I bought too big a box of letters though… and left them unattended. Mistake. They do come up off the floor with a little scrubbing…

Donovan is so funny =) One of his favorite phrases right now is “holy guacamole!” I have no idea where he learned it, but it’s adorable. He also likes to say “akaboochie.” I am not entirely sure what it means, but it usually makes me smile because it’s accompanied by a big grin and a silly glint in his eye.
He has possibly decided on a plan for decorating his room: Superheroes! At first it was going to be Batman, then he expanded to the whole justice league, now he really wants it to be all kinds of superheroes so he can have X-men, Skylanders, Pokemon, the whole kit and caboodle. The fun part was, when I started looking into ideas for his room and showing it to him, he asked if he could “research” for his room too. So I have gotten my four year old addicted to pinterest. =)
He is a very thoughtful boy. This month Maia discovered pbskids.org. She can’t play the games by herself, she hasn’t quite mastered the mouse. But she can point out the answers on the screen to all the letter questions and letter sounds. A couple of times when Mama was done being Maia’s mouse, Donovan took over and clicked for her for a long time! So sweet =)
At school we had a 100th Day of School party for Donovan’s class. It was a blast!  I brought 100 solo cups, and Eric helped the kids build huge towers out of them and knock them down. This was a huge hit =) They also got to make crowns with 100 stars on them, and use 100 star stickers, and make a snack out of 100 different snack items. Add some delicious fruit and some favors and it was a great day!
