Cali and the end of May

After we got back from Branson, we headed out to Cali!  We kept the visit simple this time, because we had a special reason for going.  Ann’s 70th Birthday!  She had a wonderful party with over 70 of our friends and family there.  So we got to hang out with Judy, Amy Wainright, Lynn, Ruth, Britt, Elise, and lots of other wonderful people!  It was a blast!  We spent a lot of the week at Kona Kai, so Serenity got to work even more on her swimming skills.  Donovan loves the water too, it’s like a giant bath to him. =)  We also had a game day at Juan and Veronica’s, and a brunch with Jack and Patricia.  Henry said, “Serenity is a fun girl, Aidan is a fun boy, and Donovan is a fun baby.”  =)  Love him!  He also thinks Serenity is one of his cousins, which we also love.  =)

We picked peaches from our trees and made some peach jelly! Yes, Serenity picked peaches in her princess outfit. That makes her Princess Peach.

We got to see her gymnastics performance! They showed off all they'd been working on this year. Serenity did so well! Although she balked at a few things, like swinging over the bar, she did so many things I knew she was hesitant about at first, like doing the "pop tart" on the bar and she climbed the rope without just letting go and falling kamikaze into her teachers arms. Not high, but I don't mind that a bit. I loved how she did the Hokey Pokey, and how determined she was to be the fastest at the races (even if fast isn't the goal.) She did some extremely fast crab walking and wompus walks. And great pogos! She climbed down a ladder without using her feet, which I didn't know she could do! And she is learning cartwheels, and may be left footed. Interesting. She loved gymnastics, and we'll see if she chooses it or dance in the fall.

Cartwheel. I just love how the mats have hands on them. Although Serenity tends to want to use particular hands and fusses if her teacher tries to get her to use different ones.

Climbing down the ladder with no feet. Strong arms!

Yay Gymnastics!

They got me a beautiful lily and seeds for Mother's Day. Serenity said I'd want gardening stuff, especially strawberry seeds, and she was right! Donovan chose the lily. =) He was very insistent about it apparently.

Tina made Ann the periodic table of elements out of cupcakes =) Serenity and I went for Neon and Krypton

We’re home now and both kids are feverish.  Sigh.  I spent much of today being a pillow for my sweet snuggly babies.  Serenity woke up in the middle of the night, and since Donovan was already in my bed (Eric was downstairs expecting an early morning call) I just asked if she wanted to come sleep with us so I could get back to him.  So I snuggled them both all night, and when we woke up, Serenity wanted to tell a story.  “Once, Serenity and her Mama were snuggling in the morning light.  And it was soooo cozy.  And they love each other. “  I love her so much =)
