Descent

Last summer at Andrew’s bachelor party, Eric won a very BIG game.  Chrissie didn’t know if she was happy he won, because the game was in such a huge box.  However, it has turned out we have played over 400 HOURS of this game with more than 20 friends!  So the 2007-2008 Wainright Game of the Year is…. DESCENT!!!   Descent has elements of fantasy roleplaying as well as a strong tactical battle system, where four heroes go into a dungeon to try and defeat the overlord.  Most of the time Eric or Johnny would be the overlord, although Chrissie, John, Andrew and Robert also each took a turn.  As the game progresses, heroes collect better and better treasure, and try and destroy the overlord’s minions.  The game was such a hit that we ended up getting all three expansions for it.  The third expansion adds a campaign variation, which means a single game takes 40 to 50 hours to play over many sessions.  Below is a list of all the people who joined us for the fun and frivolity.
