After Pictures! Painting Yay!

Well, we have finally finished painting every surface in the house that we plan to paint for now!  This includes every single ceiling (which are beautifully bare of popcorn), three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, family room, living room, game area, all the hallways, and the stairwell!  The staircase was the hardest as it required a few hours of me lifting my arms as high as they could go to reach the vaulted ceiling and high walls, and even then I left the far corner for Eric to finish while standing on a rickety stepstool that I held firmly to keep him from toppling.  I would like to add that I am taller than Eric gives me credit for =)

I hadn’t originally planned to paint all the walls.  Most of them were a neutral beige color, that was a fine color.  But since we needed to paint the ceilings to cover the mud, I thought it was a great idea to go ahead and paint them to match!  It’s much easier when you don’t have to paint a straight line at ceilings that don’t have molding.  And once I started I was so glad I did because the beige walls were definitely dirty and in need of sprucing =)  I painted the kitchen and family area walls green.  I am ecstatic about this because FINALLY my beautiful sofa is not camel colored on a beige wall!  It actually stands out!  It was such a pretty neutral when I bought it, but I always felt it needed color behind it, and now it does!  Kelly helped me pick the green.  It goes nicely with my dishes and all the green accents I’ve been collecting for years.

The ceilings, game area, living room, foyer and hallways are all lambswool.  It’s a nice neutral taupe that actually goes better with my carpet than the old neutral did.  And, luckily enough, it’s the same color Mom painted in her house.  This means I got nearly four gallons of it for free!!  Free paint is just the best =)  (Especially since Mom buys the good stuff!)  I did have to buy another big bucket but it was still a good deal, and it’s a great color.  And I hope to not have to paint the ceilings again ever so that’s a good thing!

I just posted our completed to do list and then I got a dozen more checkmarks for yesterdays insane painting spree!  I painted all day till 11pm but it’s done!!!  Next up:  hanging pictures and things on the walls!  Yay, decorating!

After Family Room... I'm still going to cover the fireplace bench with a more neutral fabric, this is just what I had on hand.

I think the cabinets look much prettier with a little color behind them! Tolerable certainly =)
